Things to Say to People Who Don’t Understand the Stock Show Life
It’s about family.
Because there is nothing in the world that compares to a stock show for family bonding time. Think about it; what other activities can the whole family be involved in and support each other through the entire journey? Plus, everyone else you show with ends up becoming a part of your show family as well.
It’s about seeing hard work pay off.
Late nights, early mornings and many hours spent in the barn just to make sure your animal looks the best it possibly can. When you are preparing for a show, there are no days off because one missed feeding could mess your whole project up. But when you get to the backdrop, every single minute spent in the barn is paid off.
It's about the feeling of a handshake.
Because it’s the best feeling in the entire world and you can never get enough of it. Handshakes are everything you hope and dream for, so when you finally get one, it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you. Nothing can replace the feeling of knowing that you did the best you possibly could and all the sweat and tears become worth it.
It's about the memories made.
Because the best days of your life were spent in the barn. Even the days that seemed horrible you can look back on now and smile. Nothing will ever compare to the experiences you’ve had and the people you’ve made memories with. That’s why showing livestock isn’t just a hobby, it’s a way of life.
