Fundraising Ideas You Will Want to Take Back to Your FFA Chapter
Fundraising is imperative to how many contests you can attend, how many members the chapter can support and in some cases, the difference between attending state and national convention. Because we believe sharing is caring, we've rounded up our favorite fundraisers.
Cow Pie Bingo
Experience the sweet smell of success while hosting a cow pie fundraising event during a county fair, rodeo or other event. A cow is turned loose on a fenced-in area which has been marked off in 500 three-foot, numbered squares. The cow determines the winner by making the first "deposit" on one of the squares.
Kiss the ______
Find a member of your chapter with a cute livestock animal and get the whole school involved in making a friend of FFA kiss it. With a jar dedicated to each willing participant, donations will determine the animal's suitor.
A "goat insurance" fundraiser is irresistible simply because people love goats!
Step 1: Mail flyers to friends of FFA announcing your organization will raffle off a donated goat.
Step 2: For $10, a person can send in the names of three people.
Step 3: Letters are then sent to those three people, announcing they have a chance to win a goat; however, for $10 they can buy "goat insurance" to protect themselves from being entered in the raffle. You might find some people actually want the goat.
This is pretty self-explanatory. Pay to dunk a teach, FFA advisor or chapter officer!
Pie Eating Contest
With a pretty substantial entry fee, the person who eats their pie fastest without their hands is the winner.
This is a great way to get free community press and an ideal situation for smaller towns. This should only take place when the pies have been donated. Otherwise, a lot of participants will be needed to cover the costs of food.
While a significant workload, an alumni vs current members tournament could be just the thing to rally supporters for the upcoming school year.
Introduce a bit of agritourism to your community and raise funds in the process!
Mr. FFA Pageant
This is an interesting spin on a beauty pageant, where male club members volunteer to perform onstage. The admission fee raises the first round of funds, program ads add another layer, and the concession stand adds another!
A fun, casual way to socialize and enjoy great food, chili cook-offs are popular among both students and parents. Pair the entrance fee with a taste testers bowl fee and you have a solid fundraiser on your hands.
Participants pay an entrance fee and compete to win the title of Best Chili Chef, awarded by a panel of judges.
Outdoor Movie Night
With some white sheets, a projector, ticket sales, a concession stand, and a family-friendly movie, you can have a quality fundraiser!
Color runs (or another fun theme) are a flavorful and fun idea that gets everyone involved. Participants pay to run which includes a plain white t-shirt and the cost of the colorful powder. Do it for the ‘gram!
